Obituary
Burnley Caving Club is saddened to learn of the death of one of its longest associated members, Trevor Howarth.
Trevor joined Burnley Caving Club in 1957 as a thirteen year old boy in search of adventure. He found it in the caves of the Yorkshire Dales during an era of exploration and new cave discoveries.
In 1974 he was elected to the committee of Burnley Caving Club as club librarian. He held the post for one year before being elected to the position of treasurer. A very competent treasurer, he held the role for many years carefully controlling and improving the finances of the club.
As well as remaining an active member of Burnley Caving Club, Trevor was committed to playing vital roles in the operation of the Cave Rescue Association and St. John Ambulance.
In recent years he suffered ill health bravely. Trevor will always be attributed the highest respect by all the members of Burnley Caving Club.
