Footwear - wellingtons are best, otherwise old boots or trainers. These will get wet and muddy so bring some footwear to go home in.
Warm old clothing to go underground in. Fleece type sweaters/tracksuits are ideal. Denim/jeans are unsuitable.
Your underground clothes will get wet and dirty so bring a complete change of clothing to go home in (including underwear and socks). Do not bring your best or expensive clothes to go underground in, as you will regret it! Use old clothing that you do not mind getting wet or dirty.
Waterproof outer clothing such as cagoule and over trousers.
Towel.
Packed lunch (if required).
Money, a small amount (£3-4) for food and access fees if required.
Washing up gloves or waterproof gloves are optional.
You will be supplied with a helmet, lamp and belt and any other specialist equipment required for your caving trip.
Burnley Caving Club has a limited supply of oversuits, undersuits and wellingtons for loan but please try and bring the above or contact the leader before the day of the trip to borrow some.
The leader reserves the right to refuse to take anyone underground who is inadequately equipped for the trip, so if you have not got the above gear please inform the leader in good time to avoid disappointment.
On the day of the trip you will be provided with detailed safety instructions. In the event that any member of the party should endanger either themselves or the group by reason of either wilful disregard of safety procedures or improper behaviour; then the leader will either abort the whole trip and return the group to the surface, or have the person removed from the group to the surface.
