Burnley Caving Club Annual General Meeting 2006

Present: - Raymond Haffner, Jack Nadin, Simon Mitchell, Peter Wilson, John Jones, Kevin Nuttal, Keith Taylor, Barbara Taylor, Fay Hartley, Shaun Purser, Simon Beck.

Chairman opened the meeting 8pm.

Apologies for absence: None received.
Minutes of last AGM were read by PW.
Matters arising from the minutes: None.

Officer’s reports.
Chairman’s report.
Simon told the meeting that he would be stepping down.

Treasurers report.
The clubs bank account currently stands at £2304.93 the year end for 2005 was £2659.45. No balance sheet was presented but a verbal account was made.

Secretary's report.
The membership currently stands at thirty eight and is made up of thirty one club cavers, three club non cavers and four ACG members that have insured through another club. The club continues to be a member of the British Caving Association, the BCRA and the CNCC. The club and its members are insured with the BCA, Public liability Policy. Club subscriptions are club caver £25.00, club family caver £50.00, club unwaged caver £18.00 and club non caver £10.00. Subscriptions are due on the 1st January.
We have had quite an interesting meet list this year. The club meeting night on Thursday has generally been well attended. Bernie Bond has represented the club at the CNCC meetings. Wayne Brown has again maintained the club website and has forwarded email inquiries to the relevant committee members. The site is an excellent source of information about the club past and present. We have had no involvement with the local sport for youth programme again this year. This has come about since the winding up of the SPLASH organisation.

Editors report.
Three newsletters have been produced this year and an Annual Review. A further newsletter is planned for the year end.

Tacklemasters report.
The caving and climbing equipment has been well used, an inventory has been produced, and we do have some outstanding equipment that needs returning. The general policy is equipment is borrowed on a weekly basis and is returned clean. We have a 200metre reel of new SRT rope which will replace some of the existing long ropes.

Librarians report.
The library is fully catalogued. Donations of books have been received, thank you to all who have made these donations. We have some books missing; the Wharfedale caving guide book number 1 is missing. This the only club copy and we ask members to check if they have it. The cave survey stock has been increased.

Election of officers and committee for 2007.
Chairman: Nominee John Worthington Jones. Proposed by K. Nuttal, Seconded by Jack Nadin. No other nominations John was voted in as the new chairman.
Secretary: Peter Wilson.
Treasurer: Shaun Purser.
Editor: Jack Nadin.
Tacklemaster: Keith Taylor.
Librarian: Kevin Nuttal.
Webmaster: Wayne Brown.
Committee member: Simon Beck, for the position of Meets Secretary.

Any other business.
1. The proposal of the change of name in the clubs constitution of honorary members to honorary fellows. This is to eliminate the honorary members of any liability. This was passed by the meeting.
2. Tee shirts or sweat shirts John Jones to obtain quotes.
3. John Jones asked the meeting if the Lamprechsofew caving expedition being organised by Fay Hartley could use the Burnley Caving Club name.
4. The annual dinner Raffle.
5. Venue for club camp.
6. The venue for the next annual dinner.
7. Raymond Haffner told the meeting of the serious accident that happened to Eric Burns whilst rambling with former work colleagues an early BCC club member and friend of Raymond. Eric is now in a paraplegic state but it is hoped that his condition will improve. Geoff Richmond’s wife Sheila has recently died.

The meeting closed 9.10pm.
